What we aimed at

This site was built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, which is the standard most people mean when they say a website is accessible.

We are naming a version, a level and a date on purpose. "ADA compliant" and "accessible" without a standard attached are claims nobody can check, and a claim nobody can check is worth nothing to you and is evidence against us if it turns out to be wrong.

In plain terms

  • It works with a keyboard alone. Every control can be reached with Tab and used with Return or Space, and you can always see where you are.
  • It works with a screen reader. Headings are real headings, the form fields have real labels, and the pictures that carry meaning describe themselves.
  • The text resizes without the layout breaking.
  • Colors have enough contrast to read in daylight.
  • Nothing flashes and nothing moves that you did not start. If your device is set to reduce motion, the animations do not run at all, and every number that counts up is simply printed.
  • Nothing on this site requires JavaScript to read. With scripts turned off, the page still says everything it says.

What we measured, and how

We check contrast with a tool that computes the actual WCAG relative luminance ratio for every color pair the site uses, rather than by eye. The figures are published in the project's own README and are reproducible by anybody who runs the same tool on the same colors.

The purchase path is held to 7:1, which is Level AAA, rather than the 4.5:1 that Level AA asks for. Text on the main background measures 9.4:1.

Where it may fall short

Being specific here is more useful than being reassuring.

  • We have not run a full audit by a person who uses a screen reader every day. Automated checks and careful building catch most things and they do not catch everything. If you use one and something is wrong, you will find it before we do, and we would genuinely rather know.
  • The demonstration sites at /work were built to the same standard but are not individually retested when the template underneath them changes.
  • We do not control what a client later adds to their own site. If a site we built has since had a booking widget, a chat box or a video added to it, that part is not ours and may not meet the standard.

If something does not work for you

Tell us. Call (720) 916-1357 or email hello@carverpoint.com and say what happened and what you were trying to do. You do not need to know the technical name for it. "I could not get past the form" is a perfectly good bug report.

We will tell you what we are going to do about it and roughly when, within 5 business days.

You never have to use the website

If you cannot use this site at all, call (720) 916-1357 and we will do the whole thing on the phone, including buying. Nothing here is the only way to reach us and nothing here is a better price than the phone.
